What is the
The Eversource Challenge is a program for K-12 students living in an Eversource electric community. It invites students to showcase their knowledge on saving energy, energy-efficient technologies, and sustainability through various challenges.
The Eversource Challenge is open to all students in grades K-12 in towns served by Eversource (see “List of Eligible Communities,” below). The program offers grade-specific challenges ranging from poster-making for first graders to developing an energy-efficiency action plan for high school students. We encourage teachers and administrators to promote the program in their classrooms and schools. To see the challenge for each grade, visit our assignments section.
At the end of the program, finalists from each grade and one guest are honored at a special awards ceremony.
Judges base their decisions on the use of accurate and scientific facts, creativity, readability, persuasiveness, originality and appearance. Students’ submissions are judged against those from the same grade levels in their community. Entries containing violence or other inappropriate content will be disqualified.
Each grade has first-, second- and third-place winners. In the case of winning groups, each student receives his or her own prize.

The Eversource Challenge gives students grade-specific assignments that showcase their energy knowledge with a focus on four core values:
Reducing or going without a service to save energy.
Technologies that have been developed to save energy.
Using less energy to provide the same service.
Not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance.
